One of the alternative locations of Fennovoima's nuclear power plant, Ruotsinpyhtää, supports Fennovoima's project. The municipal council's majority voted in favor of Fennovoima in its meeting May 18th.

Fennovoima's nuclear plant would considerably strengthen the income basis of the region and would generate a strong financial base for public services in the future, Ruotsinpyhtää municipality points out in its statement.

Ruotsinpyhtää, Loviisa, Liljendal and Pernaja will merge in the turn of the year 2010 to greater Loviisa. Last week, the current city council of Loviisa gave a positive statement on Fennovoima's project.
