21.09.2011

The Supreme Administrative Court has today given its verdicts on appeals submitted regarding the regional land plans in Kemi-Tornio and Northern Ostrobothnia. All appeals were dismissed. The Court does not assess in the verdict which of the alternative sites is more feasible for the purpose of constructing a nuclear power plant.

Fennovoima will now study and assess the given verdicts in detail. The process of selecting the site will take a few weeks. Fennovoima will publish its decision of the location of its nuclear power plant when it has completed its decision process.

Fennovoima has two alternatives for the location of its nuclear power plant: Pyhäjoki and Simo. The location will be chosen on the basis of extensive assessments. The focus will be especially on safety, environment, technical feasibility, construction costs and the readiness and ability of the municipality and its region to receive a big construction project.
