Fennovoima was founded in 2007.

Fennovoima submitted its application for the Decision-in-Principle to the Finnish Goverment in January 2009.

The Finnish Government and Parliament gave Fennovoima a Decision-in-Principle in 2010. Therefore Fennovoima has the permit to build a new nuclear power plant.

In 2011 Fennovoima decided to build its nuclear power plant to Pyhäjoki.

The company will select the plant supplier, Areva or Toshiba, in 2012-13.

The first preparatory works in the greenfield site will begin late 2012 at the earliest. The schedule of the whole construction project will be specified in the plant contract with the plant supplier.

Fennovoima plans to start the operation of its nuclear power plant at the earliest in 2020.
