Fennovoima joined UN’s Global Compact sustainability initiative

Fennovoima has been accepted as a member of the United Nations corporate sustainability initiative Global Compact in the beginning of February.

By signing the initiative Fennovoima agrees to align its strategy and operations with the ten principles concerning human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

– Throughout the project Fennovoima has continuously worked to develop its practices further so that good governance, safety and social responsibility are taken into account as comprehensively as possible. By joining Global Compact Fennovoima wants to emphasize the importance of sustainable development and social responsibility in the Hanhikivi 1 project. I believe that Global Compact offers us fresh new ideas and tools to develop our practices, Fennovoima’s CEO Toni Hemminki summarises.

Companies involved in the initiative report to the UN every year of compliance with these principles. Fennovoima will publish its first corporate responsibility report this spring.

Global Compact is the world's largest corporate responsibility initiative launched by the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2000. More than 9,000 companies from 166 countries are involved in the initiative.
