The land use plan changes required for Fennovoima’s nuclear power plant have been completed in both alternative locations for the nuclear power plant, both in Pyhäjoki and Simo.
The implementation of the project requires that a reservation is made in all land use planning levels: regional land use plan, local master land use plan and detailed land use plan.
The Ministry of Environment has ratified both Kemi-Tornio region’s nuclear power regional land use plans and North Ostrobothnia’s nuclear power regional land use plan in 2010. Municipal councils of Pyhäjoki and Simo have approved the new local master land use plans and detailed land use plans as well in 2010.
The city councils of Kemi and Raahe have approved the land use plan changes related to the nuclear power plant project. The city council of Raahe approved the component master plan and the detailed land use plan in its meeting on 15th November 2010.
The land use planning will be finalized by the year 2012, possible appeals taken into account.
