The Paks II project delegation visited Fennovoima on 24 January 2018.
The delegation consisted of State Secretary Dr. Attila Aszódi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Miklós Horváth, Head of Cabinet Ferenc Leber and Technical Director Gábor Kovács. Paks II project is responsible for the Hungarian VVER-1200 nuclear power plant construction project. In the frame of the discussions focusing on the current status of the Paks and the Hanhikivi 1 projects the two companies signed a cooperation agreement.
Fennovoima's Project Director Minna Forsström said after signing the document that for years there has been a good relationship between the Hungarian and Finnish parties with multiple meetings and consultations between the heads of the two projects.
The agreement is intended to benefit the daily work of both projects, Miklós Horváth emphasized. Several decades of successful cooperation between Paks and Loviisa nuclear power plants demonstrates that exchange of information and experience is mutually beneficial for the companies.
During the phases of design, licensing, construction and operation the Finnish and Hungarian projects are going to face similar challenges. Exchanging information and experiences can be utilized to solve these issues. This experience can also be shared with the nuclear industry.
