The Board of Directors of Fennovoima has nominated Joachim Specht as Fennovoima’s new CEO.
The Board of Directors of Fennovoima has nominated Mr. Joachim Specht as the new CEO of Fennovoima. He will start in Fennovoima on 1.6.2020.
Joachim Specht joins Fennovoima from PreussenElektra (former E.ON Kernkraft), where he has served as Senior Vice President and Head of Nuclear Engineering and Consultancy.
Specht holds a Master of Science degree in Metallurgy & Materials Science and has an almost 30-year experience in the nuclear industry. He has earlier worked in different roles and responsibilities in PreussenElektra, Areva, Framatome and Siemens/KWU. He possesses a strong experience in nuclear, from new built projects and operation and maintenance, to services, engineering and consultancy.
“Joachim has a strong experience in nuclear power plant projects both on the supplier side and nuclear power plant operator side. With this experience and his personal skills, he is well prepared to lead Fennovoima and Hanhikivi 1 project,” says Esa Härmälä, Chairman of the Board of Fennovoima, and continues:
“Hanhikivi 1 project is proceeding according to the schedule and, besides applying for the construction license, we are already focusing on the construction phase, and therein Joachim’s experience in nuclear power plant projects will be valuable.”
Fennovoima’s COO and acting CEO Timo Okkonen continues to serve as the acting CEO until Joachim Specht starts in Fennovoima, after which Okkonen will continue in his role as the COO.
“I would like to thank Timo Okkonen for his work as acting CEO. His leadership has enabled significant positive change both in Fennovoima and Hanhikivi 1 project. I am pleased that Timo will continue in Fennovoima as COO,” Härmälä concludes.
