Fennovoima is a nuclear power company established in 2007. Our power plant will be constructed in Pyhäjoki, Northern Ostrobothnia. Fire Officer (Palomestari)

Fire Officer’s tasks include planning and writing fire safety guidelines, planning operative capability at the Project Site and later on the nuclear power plant, reviewing plant Supplier’s documentation, assisting in organization planning, arranging emergency drills and fire safety training, supervision of fire safety, fire safety risk assessments, fire inspections and cooperation with the Rescue Department. Fire Officer’s daily tasks will develop as the nuclear power plant project proceeds from planning to construction and operation phases. Current tasks will be mostly related to planning and reviewing documentation.

Under the authority of the Rescue Manager your tasks include e.g.

  • Reporting to Rescue Manager
  • Creating and updating fire safety guidelines of Fennovoima
  • Planning fire brigade’s operative capability
  • Developing conditions for rescue operations
  • Reviewing documentation of the nuclear power plant Supplier (RAOS Project Oy)
  • Arranging emergency drills and fire safety training
  • Assisting Rescue Manager in organization planning
  • Internal fire inspections and supervision of fire safety at the Project Site
  • Guiding the nuclear power plant Supplier in fire safety matters at the Project Site
  • Assessment and follow-up of fire- and accident risks
  • Communication with local rescue authorities
  • Chemical supervision
  • Hot work license trainings

Requirements for this position are

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Fire Engineering (Government Decree 407/2011 6§)
  • Valid driver’s license (class B)
  • Fluent Finnish and English language skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Ideal candidate for this position has

  • Ability to give trainings on fire safety matters
  • Experience from highly protected environments (e.g. industrial, ship yard or construction sites)
  • Experience from fire protection systems (fire extinguishing and fire detection systems)
  • Good knowledge of Finnish rescue and chemical regulation and applicable standards
  • Systematic, target-oriented and independent way of working, and absolute reliability
  • Comfortable when speaking public (trainings and meetings)
  • Hot work license or hot work license trainer competence
  • Possibility to travel mainly in Finland
